Taking Care of Yourself

The life of a graduate student instructor has many demands. Make time for self-care so that you can be present and encouraging to your students. Some of the strategies listed here may apply to you as well. Everyone can do something to enhance their health and well-being, no matter where you find yourself on the health continuum. There are many wellness resources for graduate and professional students on campus, including Student Wellness, University Counseling Service, Recreational Services, Student Health and more!  Additional mental health supports can be found on the Mental Health @ Iowa webpage.

Additionally, The Center for Teaching has resources available to graduate student instructors. If you would like to enhance your teaching, learn more about effective and innovative teaching strategies, or discuss teaching challenges or aspirations, consider checking it out.
