So You Handed Out a Student Check-In, What Next?
When handing out student check-ins, it is important to address why you are having students fill them out. From a student perspective, knowing the reason behind a class activity makes students more inclined to participate and put effort into the activity. Further, addressing the student-check in after your students fill them out is just as important as distributing them. From experience, I had professors take class time to read the feedback, have an open discussion about what students wrote, and then tell us how they planned to implement our feedback. It is crucial to acknowledge and implement feedback in ways that fit your classroom and teaching style.
