Dear Future Science Educators,
Dr. Mark McDermott asked us to help him create this resource from the perspective of students who have taken the Science Methods I course and as someone that has taught the course–what would we want in a textbook? How can a textbook help future students succeed? With this in mind, we gathered and created resources to help you engage in science as a scientists and to connect class concepts to the science classroom. It is our hope that this text will provide you scaffolding to become successful as a college student and more confident as a future educator.
This book is divided into three main parts which align with the Science Methods I course:
- Science teaching
- Physical Science – Chemistry
- Life Science
Each section is then broken down into main topics that align with the chapter topic. As you read through the text you will find big ideas, big questions, interactives, key takeaways, links to external resources, and teacher talks to help you make connections to your future classroom and the Science Methods I course.
This book is designed to be a resource for you as a student in this course.
