39 About Me

Hi there! My name is Caroline and I’m a fourth-year undergraduate student studying Linguistics and Global Health Studies. I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa but have been living and studying in Iowa City since 2020. I’m in the Honors program and work as a Writing Fellow on campus. I’m also the Director of Hospitality for SCOPE productions, a student organization that works on bringing live music to the community. Outside of school, I work at a wine and cheese shop, and I love to sew, cook, and spend time outside!

This is my last year of undergraduate studies, and I took this course because I wanted to learn about how the overlap of science and art, and also to explore my thesis, which I will be writing next semester. I’ve finally found a topic that involves my two areas of interest: language and health. I believe that the work of linguistics can be applied to public health, by deepening our knowledge of health disparities, and working towards solutions.
