85 About Me

My name is Dallas Tran, a freshman at the University of Iowa majoring in Biochemistry. I come from a town in Iowa called Sioux City. My parents moved to the United States from a small city in Vietnam, in order to give my family an easier life. In order to make them proud, I decided I want to become successful in life and give back all that they have given me. So, I have decided to pursue a career in dentistry, as the field always seemed interesting to me, but would also make my parents proud.

But when I am not busy with studies, I enjoy hanging with friends and family, making new friends, as well as being active. I also have a passion for food and cooking.

I took health humanities because I believed it would be helpful on my journey to becoming a dentist. I also thought the description of the course was interesting and would help me to learn more about health in general.  I thought the class would solely be a class where you learn and take tests. To my surprise, it was more than that. This class showed me classes can be more than just learn, study, and take tests. This class allows your creativity, along with what you learn about health issues in class, run free in a project that you’re in control of.
