3 About Me

Hello, my name is Ashlie Bentler. I’m nineteen years old and currently a freshman at the University of Iowa, studying biology and on the pre dental track. My career interests are in the dental field and working towards becoming an orthodontist. I grew up in a very small town, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Outside of school I like to spend time with my family, friends, and pets. I enjoy the outdoors and staying active. This course was referred to me by my academic advisor so I wan’t sure about what I was getting into. Throughout the course I learned what humanities is and all of the ways that it impacts health and healing. Knowing how important it is to know the sociological, religion, ethnicity, and more about a patient will help me with my future courses and my career.  The impact art has on healing was something I had never thought about but now I truly believe in.  Art can help people through many health issues and impacts the healing process in ways medicine can not.
