9 Creative Project prep 3

Creative Project Prep 3

To prepare for the creative project we did three different smaller projects that connected to art and healing. The collage I created represents the rapid increase of opioid abuse and how society understands it. People tend to judge others with drug addictions and assume these people continue to choose drugs. Many times, opioids are used accidentally, or they can be prescribed by health professionals. The artwork is compiled with different phrases and images that I believe represent the aspects of this disease. There is a certain stigma attached to drug addicts. They can be judged and viewed poorly just because they made one decision that changed the course of their life. When thinking about addiction people can be very closed minded and think it is a simple task to get sober. I choose specific images that show the loss, mental struggles, and outside remarks associated with drug abuse. The phycological tole drug abuse puts on the addict and the others surrounding them can be detrimental. Drug abuse is very present in society, and the negative connotation towards the addicts can impact how their recovery goes. The reality of how difficult recovery can be needs to be normalized not sugarcoated. The number of overdoses could decrease if someone was not ashamed of looking for help and knew all of the resources available.
