19 Learning Reflection – Stigma, Burnout and Shame

“What I know now about burnout, stigma and/or shame?”

I have learned that burnout is the state of a physician/doctor/medical professional where they are overworked, exhausted and unfocused.  This state ultimately leads to errors in their work performance, emotional output, and other things. I have also learned about the negative effects of stigma and shame and how it makes people feel. Whether they are a doctor or a patient, stigma and shame is a really heavy burden to carry. Stigma is a very serious thing that can spread quickly, especially if it is a serious accusation that might not even be true.
