Project Prep 2

During project prep 2 I decided to focus on the issue of anxiety. Over the course of completing this project, I was able to think about the issue on a deeper level, and consider how different songs/music would resonate with individuals who experience anxiety. Being a music lover/fan I enjoyed doing this project and deciding which songs I wanted to include. I do have personal experiences with anxiety as well, which I think helped me with this project, as I thought about how I personally would interpret/respond to certain songs. I also thought about how only basing it off of my personal experience would potentially limit the effectiveness of the playlist for others, so I tried to include songs of various genres and not just the kind of music I like that related to the issue.

Project Prep 3

During project prep 3 we used art to heal by creating a collage representing a health issue. I chose to represent alcoholism and wanted to express how the addiction takes over. I then went through the scraps of paper and materials provided until I found things I thought I could use to convey this, and I started mapping out the idea in my head and expanding on it, while also mapping it out physically with what I had. This physical aspect of the project was what I liked as I was able to use the materials to create my ideas on what I wanted the collage to represent- the development of alcoholism and certain aspects that come with this illness. This project helped me understand how one can visually represent health issues through art and contribute to healing of those who experience these issues by allowing them to relate to the art; and I also felt drawn to the creating aspect of this project, and I can see the potential art therapy has to help heal.
