30 Reflections on Learning

When it comes to reflecting on my learning, I look back on my biggest takeaways from what was learned and how I interpret the information. I feel that it is very important to reflect on what was learned and make sure I have my own understanding of the information.

What I have learned about AI

I learned that AI can be beneficial when looking for factual information on different topics. With the positives of using AI there are also negatives that come with it. Since AI is not a person, it lacks the emotion and experiences that other sources have. AI is good for eliminating bias, saving time, and automating repetitive tasks, but is also lacks creativity and causes potential human job loss.

Active Listening

I did this activity with my mom and we talked about the first time she had covid. My conversation unfortunately had to be over FaceTime since my mom is home in Minnesota but she still noticed how engaged and focused I was in the conversation. She had shared that she typically knows I am listening but she had said she could tell I was paying extra attention to what she was saying. I realized that I actually learned a lot more about her story than I had thought I knew, since I have heard the story before. For me it is very easy to get distracted, so keeping eye contact and trying not to stray off topic was quite difficult for me. Going into the conversation I almost treated it as a challenge. I tried to focus and listen as best as I could so when I felt myself getting distracted I would go back to listening.

Why medicine needs art

What will you remember from the Bill exhibit, and why?

Bill’s story is about his life being wrongfully cared for as an individual with disabilities. Bill was failing school due to struggling with his father’s passing and was sent to an institution for disabled and delinquent individuals of all ages.  After 44 years Bill was released and used his story to inspire people all around him. He used his love for playing harmonica and talking to people to cheer people up and spread positivity. Bill became and local and national celebrity from the impact he had made.
