About me: Piper Seals
Hi! My name is Piper Seals (she/they), and I am studying Public Health with a minor in Geosciences. I was born in Guangzhou, China, but lived most of my life in Minneapolis, Minnesota. My research currently focus on improving healthcare access to low-income employees at the university hospital, as well as attempting to reach underserved populations whose first language is not English. I hope to integrate my geoscience knowledge with public health in a career managing contaminants in groundwater and soils.
I am taking Foundations of Health Humanities to expand my knowledge of public health and health disparities through a humanities lens. Through my BA coursework, I have honed qualitative reasoning and analysis skills and social science communication methodologies, with an underlying passion in improving health conditions for minority populations. I am especially interested in individual experiences in health outcomes and how they relate and contribute to a broader health issue.
In my free time, I love to stay active by exploring different local and state parks, playing with the UI club ultimate frisbee team, and going on long walks around campus. I also enjoy reading fiction, fishing, crocheting, and spending quality time with my friends.
