90 Bali, Indonesia – Nyambutin Birth Ceremony

In Balinese Hindu culture, the Nyambutin ceremony takes place on the 105th day after a baby is born. Babies are seen as divine beings until 3 months into their lives, and must be carried and not touch the ground until then. During the ceremony, a priest blesses holy water, places the water on the baby’s feet, and lets their feet touch the ground for the first time to symbolize their entrance into the living world.
