79 About Me: Chloe Skidmore

Hello! I am currently in my fourth year at the University of Iowa pursing my bachelors in Global Health Studies, a minor in Spanish, and a certificate in Public Health. I have grown up exclusively in the midwest and more specifically in towns that lack cultural and ethnic diversity. This factor of my life has fueled my motivation for learning Spanish and expanding my ability to communicate with others. In addition to this, my passion for health grew as I wanted to understand the root of health issues across the globe, not solely how to “fix” the condition itself. My studies at the University have also pushed me to work in the hospital as a Patient Care Technician and to also teach ESL lessons within the community. Engaging within the community is a deep passion of mine and through my studies I have developed a love for maternal and child health. I hope to continue my values in working with community members from the bottom-up, and deepening my compassion for others in order to improve health issues.
