93 Dia de los Muertos

The Day of the Dead is a day within Mexican culture where the spirits of relatives are believed to reunite with living family members. This tradition originated in Mexico dating all the way back to the Aztecs. It is celebrated from October 31- November 2 where altars are displayed with several offerings including foods, marigolds, photos, candles, and more. The souls of the dead will visit these altars set up by their loved ones to eat, drink, dance, and play music for 24 hours. After death, the person’s soul is expected to travel to the land of the dead where they undergo 7 challenges to reach Mictlan. On the Day of the Dead, it is believed that the wall between the living and dead dissolves allowing the dead’s souls to pass to the real world and interact with their loved ones.
