A. Acceptable Use of ICON

Acceptable use of all ICON systems is governed by the University policy entitled “Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources” found in Section II, Chapter 19 of The University of Iowa’s Operations Manual (available online).

In order to be HIPAA compliant, never use ICON to store Protected Health Information (PHI). ICON is also not approved for Personally Identifiable Information (PII), but is approved for FERPA Protected Data. Use your OneDrive as an alternative storage method.  If you have questions regarding HIPAA and PHI, please contact the Privacy Officer at 319-384-8282.  If you have questions regarding FERPA, please contact the Registrar.
