Your Part 2 Exam
Oct 20, 2022 12:30 PM Unit 9
The paradigm (and ologies) are so important to research methods that we’re going to cover – and assess – them twice.
Paradigms/Ologies Refresher and Tips
In 2021 we taught the lecture portion of this course online, and we only had one day of exam review then did the exams in person in the discussion sections. As such, we did the ‘all topics’ review in lecture instead of during discussion sections the way you do them in 2022. I went back to the 2021 review recording, screened, and edited it, and added captions. You can find it here:

Just in case you missed this info in the last exam review unit:
As you know, this “textbook” (seems like such a misnomer, doesn’t it? It’s a lot more than “text”!) was co-designed and co-written with students just like you. Students wanted a course resource without all the fluff that many textbooks seem to have. This is meant to solve two problems: 1) Getting students to read the textbook (it’s short. It’s focused. There’s even audio.). 2) Answering the question “what do I study??”
You can answer the question about what to study yourself just by looking at the chapter titles. For example, you should be able to describe the difference between lateral and vertical reading. Know the distinguishing features of Basic and Applied research and the differing objectives of each type. Describe each “ology” and how it affects the way research is pursued.
