Bonus Unit: JARS – It’s not what you think

JARS

Journal Article Reporting Standards (or JARS, for short), is the means by which academics can evaluate the information in their research articles. Overseen by APA Style, they attempt to increase the clarity, transparency, and reproducibility of research, depending on the kind of research done (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods). JARS also puts out guidelines about how authors can “best discuss race, ethnicity, and culture” within their work.

After this unit you should be able to:

  1. Navigate different kinds of research design and familiarize yourself with the components of each (Aligns with Learning Outcome 1).
  2. Learn to critically evaluate the ethics behind academic research (Aligns with Learning Outcome 2).
