Scenario

Responding to Tragedies Affecting Student Well-Being

Imagine…

There has been an alarming rise in the number of reports of sexual assault on campus over the past few weeks, and this morning you received a campus wide HawkAlert notifying the community that the body of a student initially reported missing has been found. No one has been raising their hand in class and grades on your last quiz were abysmal. Your students seemed visibly upset and distracted during the past two classes, and you feel increasingly concerned for their well-being. Consider the value of opening a conversation where students can share how they are feeling affected by recent events.
