Note of Gratitude from the Authors
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of those who have helped in the creation and evolution of this project. To Anna Flaming, director of the Center for Teaching, and Anastasia Williams, assistant director of the Center for Teaching, without your supportive guidance, knowledge on how to further expand our ideas, and dedication to collaboration, our goals that we discussed at our first meeting would not have been successfully met without you. From meeting with us multiple times a week to providing us with immense possibilities in resources and feedback, this project was granted unlimited opportunities and potential. The amount of genuine enthusiasm and unconditional support in working with us will never be forgotten. We thank Amanda Franzen, the OTLT communications specialist, and the entire staff from the Center for Teaching for uplifting our development by giving us a place to collaborate, their time, and dedicating their expertise to further elevate the message of our resources.
We also want to express thanks to our campus partners, who took time out of their busy workdays to provide first-class knowledge, strengthening our resource to be as valuable as possible. We have been lucky to receive feedback on individual chapters from Bailey Anderson, access consultant and Deaf and Hard of Hearing services coordinator in Student Disability Services; Kelly Clougher, president of the University of Iowa Native American Council; Monique DiCarlo, director of Title IX and gender equity and Title IX coordinator in the Office of Institutional Equity; Linda Kroon, director of Women’s Research and Action Center; Barry A. Schreier, director of the Higher Education Program, Scanlan Center for School Mental Health, and professor of counseling psychology; and Erin Stresow, assistant director of Inclusive Education and Strategic Initiatives. With a wide range of topics and discourse, the chance to interact and work with these people has been remarkable.
We are also very grateful to Vicky Maloy, assistant director of OTLT Academic Technologies, and Nicole Villanueva, instructional technology consultant in OTLT Academic Technologies, for providing tech support with Pressbooks.
Throughout this project, we have undergone so much growth, encountered new experiences, expanded our communication skills, and ultimately discovered a new way to call in instructors of the University of Iowa to progress their classrooms in different areas. This has been a beyond unique and fulfilling opportunity, and we can’t wait to see how it reaches people.
