Course design and lesson planning

Students in a painting studio in Art Building West.

When you think of your course, you might ask yourself these questions:

  • What do I want my students to learn during this course?
  • How will I know they have learned it?
  • What can I do to make my students learn more constructively and successfully?
Guess what? When you think about these questions, you are already thinking about backward design, an established curriculum design method that centers alignment between learning goals, assessments, and instructional strategies and materials.

This section will help you develop syllabi, learning experiences, lesson plans, and assignments to make them aligned, learning centered, accessible, and transparent.
