The Institute of Agricultural Medicine Building, erected 1968-70. The name was changed to the Institute for Rural and Environmental Health in 1989.

“We feel that the things the Institute has accomplished and hopes to accomplish in the future may have a great and beneficial effect in enhancing the welfare of rural workers…  Let’s not forget, each safety advance in farm equipment that we can foster through research at the Institute here in Iowa will increase the safety of rural workers in many nations”.  L.W. (Pete) Knapp, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Medicine from 1970– 1975.
