38 Project 4 – (University of Iowa – AB)
El menú perfecto
You are planning a celebration for you and a friend. Your friend is too busy (or maybe too lazy) to come up with a menu and some activities to do that day, so you have to do it.
This project will practice the vocabulary and grammar from Lessons A and B from this module, but you will also review vocabulary and grammar you have learned in the previous modules.
STEP 1. Plan your party.
- What are you going to celebrate? (graduation, birthday party, etc.)
- ¿Qué evento van a celebrar?

STEP 2. Prepare a script for the short video presentation you will share with your friend. The goal of this presentation is for you to share the options you selected for each aspect of the celebration so that your friend can make a decision about the food and the plans. For each of the categories listed above, you will present your two options.
In your written script, remember to use complete sentences. Be sure to include:
- An introductory sentence: Vamos a celebrar...
- At least two sentences using the verb gustar when talking about food
- At least two sentences using the verb querer
- At least two questions for your friend using gustar and preferir
STEP 3. Prepare a visual presentation that shows all the options to your friend. Do not forget to include at least one picture for each option you are presenting (at least 6 pictures total). Only use keywords on your slides, not complete sentences.
STEP 4. Read your script a few times on your own to practice pronunciation and sound natural, and then narrate and record your presentation. Your narrated presentation should be between 1.5 and 2.5 minutes in length.
STEP 5. Post your video online as a discussion post to your instructor’s listed section AND upload your script to ICON.
STEP 6. It is time to chose your itinerary for the celebration. Watch your assigned partner’s video and write about which options you prefer for each category in the comments section. Be sure to mention what you like and do not like about each option and justify your answer. Your written answer should include full sentences. Be sure to include answers to the following four questions in your response and include why or why not.
- ¿Qué te gusta?
- Modelo: Me gusta(n)_____ porque…
- ¿Qué no te gusta?
- ¿Qué prefieres?
- ¿Qué no prefieres?
