Conversazione: un’opera d’arte

Take your phone or use any video recording system at your disposal, and video-record yourself while speaking in Italian!

Describe a work of art: books, movies, painting, buildings, … a lot of things are considered works of art. What is your favorite? Describe it in details and express you opinions on it, on the artist, on the time in which it was created,… have fun!

Speak spontaneously for 4-5 minutes. DO NOT READ.

Once you have your video, upload the file or the youtube link on the course website.

Tips and Tricks

First of all, (especially if you do not have a favorite work of art in mind) take a look at Google Art: https://artsandculture.google.com/

For famous Italian Art, you can look up: https://artsandculture.google.com/partner/uffizi-gallery

For more contemporary art, see for example:  https://artsandculture.google.com/partner/moma-the-museum-of-modern-art

You will find many works of art that you can describe. Make sure you take note of the century / year of that piece, and find some information on the artist and on this work of art to add to your conversation.

To help you prepare for this recording, and as you go through your presentation, see below a table with some useful questions.

Remember also to show the work of art you are talking about.

Remember to use the vocabulary about art and about time (many vocabularies from past modules will be useful as well for this conversation).

Group Conversation

Do you like a challenge?

If you feel audacious you can connect with a classmate and talk together about art!

  • Connect with a classmate (or another student of Italian) on Zoom, Microsoft Teams or another video conferencing tool and record the conversation. If you decide to do this, the whole conversation should last for up to 8 minutes.
  • Start with the questions above and conversate freely in Italian by asking and answering those and other questions that you have learned in class.
